About the event

Self-compassion doesn’t always come naturally, especially for those formed by judgmental faith systems. If your church or faith formation regularly emphasized what was wrong about being human, you may find it difficult to be kind to yourself. If your brain (and your theology!) is wired to criticize and judge, shifting that habituated pattern requires attentiveness and practice. In this series of guided practice sessions, we’ll learn tools and practice techniques for responding with kindness to ourselves. This series of 6 guided self-compassion practice sessions includes weekly virtual gatherings. In each session, we’ll view a reading from a sacred text through the lens of self-compassion.
Groups of 3 to 6 meet for 60 minutes for guided self-compassion instruction, conversation, and communal practice.
